Perfect size to use this as a carry on and just take a backpack as well for a week trip. Would be nice if it came with the locking latches but with it being a carry on I can see why it doesn’t. It does have two spots for locks so that’s always an option. It got a little scuffed up when I had to valet check it on my last flight but that’s to be expected when bags are getting tossed into the bottom of the plane. But that’s where the durability comes into play. Good all around case. For someone who travels week-in and week-out on 4-5 trips, both by plane and car, this bad boy has been brilliant. If you like attention, this suitcase will garnish it.Have had it for a few weeks and it’s already seen 10 states. Already building character.Always ever-so-slightly overpacked but there’s a tad bit of flex in the lid and the clamping locks ensure it closes tightly.I’ve had a pelican tool case for 7 years now and you simply replace the wheels/wheel bearings when they go bad and carry on with life.Pelican FTW.Wouldn’t buy anything elseI have a bunch of pelican gun cases and they work really well. Recently I decided to try this air case as a carryon. First, it worked great and is a solid option however there are a few drawbacks. First, they put the mounting hardware for the handle inside the case so you lose a bit of storage. Second the top handle is a little on the flimsy side and third the wheels are fixed and do not rotate. These issues make this case a good option for a weekend trip max so dont think you can fit a ton of stuff in here cuz the case is smaller than it looks. Anyway, I got a 1510 recently on sale and the extra room makes a difference. It is significantly heavier than this air version but it doesn’t bother me honestly.I use these at work for our expensive equipment and now I bought one for myself for traveling. I like how sturdy pelican cases are and I can pack this one full of everyday necessities and not worry about them getting broken. The top zipper pocket give me a safe place to store any paperwork or important documents. This is an excellent case. Just what I was looking for.Unfortunately one of the two pins holding the handle in were omitted. That said--their RMA process online is very easy and they're sending a part out for me to fix the case.I use it to travel with anything and it's EXACTLY the size for carry-on, no questions asked at the airport. It's got a rugged design, so even with wear it looks great!Well worth it. Just do it.I've been using Pelican cases for the longest time to store and protect my electronic equipment. I was always entertaining on the idea of using it for personal clothing when travelling but was turned off by the weight. So when they released the Pelican Air series, this gave me a second thought. Then came the Pelican Air Travel series which specifically addresses packing for everything else apart from equipment. So I invested in a couple. So far I have two 1615 Travel check-in luggage and then now two 1535 Travel carry-on luggage. While it's definitely lighter than their original line-up, there is still some hefty weight to it. So beware of this fact. What I like about Pelican's line is that it still is very much sturdy. I wouldn't say it's indestructible, but better than investing in Rimowa luggage that are more than twice the price and easily dented. The Pelican can take a beating, but will take on scuff marks over time. There can still be improvements to be made like a better telescoping handle and four wheels. While the included packing cubes need more structure than providing two flimsy materials.Overall still a good buy, but the company needs to rethink their Travel line.PROS:- durable- specialty colours for the Travel line- built-in TSA locksCONS:- telescoping handle does not multi-lock- TSA lock should be dial than a key- Travel line should have four wheels than the traditional two- packing cubes are flimsy and should have structureGreat quality and build! I bought it with the intent for it to simply be my carryon when travelling. I know it’s an overkill since the only thing “fragile” that I’ll be carrying is a laptop, but I just like the looks off these. I just like over-engineered things hahaha.Make sure you get this one with the metal TSA latches, it solves the issue that most people complain about the older models.I really wanted to keep it as I loved the design, quality, and color of the suitcase. Unfortunately it’s just a tad too small for me. I can fit more in my current duffle bag than this. But that’s on me, not the product. If Pelicans offers one just slightly bigger (which I think will still meet most airline’s carryon dimensions), I’d snatch it up instantly!I would have given this perfect score however the PIN provided wasn't enough plus the divider is a bit short.. Given that this is not cheap and ordering extra divider is so expensive, they should have added a few more pins and a bit more divider....The foam or plastic smell was so strong.. To get rid of the smell, I have leave the case open for 3 weeks...Also the base is not flat (edges is rounded).. There is a foam underneath however there are no foam provided on the sides.. I have to buy a foam for the sides to level up the baseUnequivocally the best travel purchase ever! I spent so much time traveling over the last 20 years with backpacks, watching other passengers disrespecting my things. No problem anymore. This case is perfect size for any air carrier and protects everything perfectly. The mesh organizer is perfect for my laptop, other paperwork and charge cords. My only regret is not getting this sooner! The item lists as "new", but I am pretty sure that I received a product that is either on view in a store or returned by another customer. I bought another pelican case recently and that one came with the box and packaging. I wish they would notify in this listing that the item is open box.
